Ben Parker has praised Leeds United’s Tyler Roberts for his performance at the weekend and feels he make a big difference to the team when he plays.

The 20-year-old has been eaed into first-team action after missing the beginning off the season through injury, but made his first start at the weekend in the 2-0 win over QPR.

Roberts got himself on the scoresheet in the Championship result and will now be looking for more minutes for the Whites.

He’s an attacking midfielder that usually drops into the number 10 role and links up play with the forwards.

The Wales international is still a young talent learning his game, but showed his class when he got a run of games at Elland Road last season and can be a goal threat.

Ex-Leeds defender Parker certainly feels he brings a great edge to the Leeds side when he’s involved and has given him big praise.

“I think he offers something different. Someone in that role where he is more attack-minded, he almost thinks like a striker so automatically that will push him further up the pitch closer to Bamford,” Parker told LS11.

“Every time I see him play he always seems like a mature player, but you forget how young he is. He’s only 20 years old, for him to come back after a long time out and put that kind of performance in [against QPR] shows that he is a top player. We are going to need him between now and end of the season.”

TBR’s View:

Leeds are defensively the best in the Championship right now, but the one thing letting them down in their promotion bid right now is going forward.

They need individuals to become more clinical in front of goal and there are a number of players that need to start scoring more.

Roberts is definitely someone that should be able to chip in with his fair share if he manages to cement his spot in Bielsa’s XI.

Leeds host Blackburn Roberts on Saturday afternoon and Bielsa should stick with the Welshman in the creative role behind the forward.
