Everton defender Ben Godfrey has claimed that he sees club teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin staying behind after training to work on his finishing.
Calvert-Lewin, 23, has started the new season in incredible goalscoring form and it’s no surprise to hear he’s putting in the extra yards to try improve his game.
The centre-forward netted from the penalty spot on Thursday night during England’s 3-0 victory at home to Republic of Ireland in an international friendly and he’s settled quickly into Gareth Southgate’s squad.
He’s scored 11 goals in just 10 appearances for the Toffees so far this season and has grown into a real talisman at Goodison Park.
Godfrey, who was a £25million signing (BBC) for Everton in the summer, has revealed the hard work Calvert-Lewin is putting in behind the scenes.
“Dom’s another who has played for Everton for a few years but you still see him outside after training practising his finishing. He deserves every bit of form he’s getting at the minute,” Godfrey told York Press.

TBR’s View:
Calvert-Lewin has now played 144 games in an Everton shirt and scored 43 goals, but he looked a long way off being a future England international when he joined in 2016 from Sheffield United and has been a bit of a late bloomer.
Aged 23, he’s growing into a real mature striker now that has found a clinical touch in front of goal and there is no doubt he’s thriving working under high-profile manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Despite losing a bit of momentum lately, Everton have a mouth-watering front trio with Richarlison and James Rodriguez working either side of central figure Calvert-Lewin.
