Ben Foster says Leeds United could end up selling Rodrigo

Ben Foster spoke on his YouTube channel about Leeds United star Rodrigo following his phenomenal start to the new Premier League season.

The Spaniard joined Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites in 2020 for £26 million (BBC). He wasn’t always at his best in his first two seasons at the club, but since the start of this campaign, he has been incredible.

Ben Foster says Leeds United could end up selling Rodrigo

Rodrigo, who is 31 now, seems to be ageing like fine wine.

The Spanish attacker has scored nine goals in 13 appearances this season, including five in his last four Premier League games. That is an extraordinary record, and he has arguably been Leeds’ best player this term.

Foster has been really impressed by Rodrigo. He thinks the 31-year-old is on fire at the moment, but he’s worried that the Spaniard could be sold for big money in the summer if he continues his form.

The Cycling GK said, as quoted by HITC: “Rodrigo for Leeds, my gosh, this boy is on fire. What a season he is having!

“They’ve got to hold onto him but again, Leeds seem to be that team where if somebody keeps smashing it, they’ll get bought. It’ll be £40-50 million or whatever it is.”

Rodrigo will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January.

Rodrigo has been absolutely brilliant for Leeds this season.

He looks a different player compared to the last two campaigns, and he’s one of the biggest reasons why Jesse Marsch’s side are not in the relegation zone at the moment.

The Spaniard’s performances may attract attention in one of the next two transfer windows, but the fact that he’ll turn 32 in less than four months’ time means there’s no way Leeds are getting anything close to £50 million.

As things stand, there’s no reason for Leeds to even think of selling him, especially in the January transfer window.
