Raheem Sterling really didn’t have the best of games against Leicester City this weekend.
The winger missed a penalty and sliced a free kick a mile wide, making a clip that will feature on footballing blooper reels for years to come.
Sterling really didn’t have his best day against Leicester. However, in certain moments he did look very sharp.
Indeed, as ever, Sterling’s movement was dangerous and he did cause plenty of problems.
Speaking on his podcast, Ben Foster has been discussing Sterling’s performance at the weekend, and while he did touch on some of the negative aspects, he gave this a positive spin, noting that the England international looks quicker than he ever has.

Raheem Sterling looks rapid
Foster spoke about the £50m man.
“Just quickly, the actual penalty Sterling took. The technique of it, the way he runs up, he might be quicker than ever by the way Raheem Sterling, did you see him? He was just rapid. His feet were going ten to a dozen, but when it came to executing the kick, he got his feet stuck underneath him, a terrible connection,” Foster said.
Sharp
Foster isn’t wrong. Sterling does look faster than he perhaps ever has, but the other parts of his game are lacking at the moment.
As the old saying goes though. Form is temporary, class is permanent, and under the right circumstances, Sterling should still be able to play a key role for Chelsea in the future and score some important goals.
Sterling does have plenty of FA Cup pedigree, so don’t be too shocked if he does play a part in shocking his former club in the upcoming semi-final at his favourite stadium, Wembley.
Sterling isn’t in great form right now, but you’d have to be a fool to fully write him off.
