Ben Foster claims that Arne Slot’s top Liverpool players have been able to do something this season which has seen them hold a key advantage over Arsenal.

Liverpool moved 11 points clear of Arsenal with a 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday with Arne Slot’s team having one hand on the Premier League title.

The Gunners felt as though after the Reds dropped points in their two previous outings they could take advantage, however, injuries are now starting to take their toll on Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Meanwhile, it’s full steam ahead at Anfield and despite the odd blip, Liverpool are continuing to dominate and Foster thinks there is one key factor that is allowing them to do so.

Liverpool’s leaders have kept themselves available

Ben Foster claims that Liverpool’s top players have been working to ensure they avoid injuries and remain available for selection.

The former Premier League goalkeeper believes that Slot’s leaders in his team, which includes the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, have shown a strong desire to keep themselves in peak condition.

The Reds have had significantly fewer injuries than their rivals Arsenal this term which has allowed them to maintain a consistent team selection and results.

Foster said on The Cycling GK: “Liverpool only rotate their front players a little bit, I think it harks back to the fact they have leaders.

“Leaders want to be on the pitch leading so they will make sure they stay fit, there’s always going to be the case where you pick up little muscle strains here and there.

“I just think they’re so good at keeping themselves fit and in peak fitness all the time, that’s why they’re always on the pitch and don’t get many injuries.”

How do Arsenal’s injuries compare to Liverpool’s this season?

Arsenal have suffered more injuries than any other team in the Premier League this season having picked up 27 different issues, as per Football365 on February 15.

The Gunners currently have five players missing, meanwhile, Liverpool are without just two players in Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley.

Slot’s team also rank 14th for injuries this season having suffered 13 fewer than the North London club.
