Ben Foster cannot believe Manchester City sold Zinchenko to Arsenal

Ben Foster has told his YouTube channel that he cannot believe that Manchester City sold Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer, and suggested that the Arsenal signing’s work-ethic is incredible.

Zinchenko was, of course, one of two players who swapped the Etihad for the Emirates this summer. The Ukraine international joined the Gunners after making 127 appearances for the Cityzens.

Zinchenko struggled to establish himself as a key man for Pep Guardiola’s side. But there is absolutely no question that he was an amazing servant for City.

His versatility arguably made him the ideal squad player for the Premier League champions. And with that, Foster simply cannot believe that City were willing to let him leave.

‘That is incredible’

Arsenal were the side who managed to secure his signature. Mikel Arteta’s men could pay up to £32 million for the 25-year-old, according to The Athletic.

And Foster clearly thinks that that deal could prove to be an absolute steal due to the impact he could have on the Arsenal ranks.

“I saw a quote from Pep actually from a couple of weeks ago. First of all, I can’t believe they’ve sold them by the way. I cannot believe they’ve got rid of them,” he told his YouTube channel.

“But I saw a quote from Pep about Zinchenko and he’s saying, ‘he’s the first guy in the gym in the morning. Once we’ve done gym, he’ll then go and do more gym. He’s the first one on the training pitch’. And I’m thinking you’ve let this guy go that does all these things, everybody sees this and thinks ‘wow, that is incredible’.

“And he’s gone into Arsenal and everybody else will be watching going: ‘I need to up my game then’. This is a guy who’s been at Man City, won everything, come here and he’s still doing that kind of thing. It’s incredible.”

Zinchenko is definitely the kind of player who could help Arsenal take that next step. Arteta’s side obviously made a big stride forward last year.

They now need to get themselves back amongst the regulars in the top-four. And, as Foster notes, Zinchenko is a winner.

Bringing that mentality into the Arsenal dressing room will only help the Gunners kick on.

Certainly, Foster is expecting to see Manchester City rue the decision to let him go.
