Tottenham Hotspur star Ben Davies’ performance against Spain for Wales on Thursday was a slight concern.
The left-back started for Ryan Giggs, but was powerless to stop La Roja from running riot at the Principality Stadium.
Luis Enrique’s side plundered three goals before the half hour mark as a shellshocked Wales tried to assert themselves.
Goals from Paco Alcacer, Sergio Ramos and Marc Bartra ensured an easy victory for the visitors.
It was difficult to pick out any stand out players for Wales – perhaps Ethan Ampadu and David Brooks from off the bench can lay claims to decent performances if anybody.
Davies fails to impress
One man who looked particuarly poor was Tottenham’s Davies.
It was a big chance for him to shine, after fellow Spurs full-back Danny Rose pulled out of the England squad on Thursday.
The pair are locked in a battle at club level to be the regular starter at left-back.
The position has mainly belonged to Davies in the space of the past year, but Rose looks to have been getting back to his best when handed a chance this season.
The pressure was on Davies to perform against Spain, but the 25-year-old appeared lethargic and was hooked after 62 minutes.
There could now be a big chance for Rose to reclaim a regular starting spot once he gets back fit.
Last term Davies filled in tremendously, but this season he simply hasn’t reached the same levels.
