Ben Davies has suggested to Football Daily that Swansea City defender Joe Rodon would be a credit to Tottenham Hotspur if the club can get a deal to sign him over the line.

The Spurs left-back is currently on international duty with the young central defender and was quizzed about the youngster during a recent interview.

Davies will win his 53rd cap should he play against England tonight, whilst Rodon is after his fifth appearance for the Wales national team.

Swansea are looking for around £20 million for Rodon and it remains to be seen if Spurs can strike a deal before the October 16th deadline.

Davies clearly fancies the 22-year-old to do a job for Tottenham and has provided Jose Mourinho with a glowing reference.

He told Football Daily: “He’s a  very good player. Ever since he came into the camp he’s shown how strong he is, how able he is to compete at the top level.

“In some of the games, against Croatia for example, there some of the very best attacking players in world football and it looked quite easy for him.

“He came in made it look like he’d been there for a long, long time. If we were to get him at Spurs I’d be delighted and I think he’d be a credit to the club.”

Rodon looks set for a bright future in the game and has played 54 times for the first-team at the Liberty Stadium.

He has been with the Swans since 2018 when he signed from Cheltenham Town, where he played 11 times.

Tottenham failed in their efforts to sign Milan Skriniar and Antonio Rudiger before the deadline and have now turned their attentions to the Football League.

Rodon would be a risk but he wouldn’t cost a fortune and with a lack of central defensive options, he should see plenty of game time under Mourinho.

Davies clearly fancies him to succeed in the Premier League.
