Arsenal enjoyed a busy summer transfer window, welcoming six new faces to the Emirates Stadium. Amongst the new arrivals was Dani Ceballos, who has joined the Gunners on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old midfielder made his first start for his new club when Arsenal took on Burnley at the Emirates Stadium last week. The No. 8 produced a brilliant performance. He engineered plenty of goalscoring opportunities, defended aggressively and caught the eye with plenty of skilful touches.
Arsenal fans immediately fell in love with the Spaniard who ran the show against the Clarets. Ceballos’ teammates are also aware of how talented his is. Hector Bellerin is full of praise for his compatriot. As quoted by the official Arsenal website, the right-back said, “I think Dani’s one of the best players I’ve seen in my career. I’ve played with him since we were like 18 or 19 years old…He’s got a great heart and he plays for everyone around him. I think he’s a great addition”.
Considering some of the brilliant players Bellerin has worked with at both club and international level, those are big words indeed. However, in Ceballos’ case it is easy to see just how naturally gifted he is. Some of the touches and moments he produced against Burnley indicated his natural grace on the pitch and his instinctive understanding of the game. He also demonstrated his fiery passion with his goal celebrations.
Arsenal fans will see it as a shame that Ceballos is only with them on loan. However, this season is the only one that matters and the Gunners should enjoy the Spaniard while they have him.
