Report: La Liga duo join six-way tussle for Arsenal's 'key figure'; 25-year-old keen on leaving Gunners

Villarreal have made a bid for Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist has claimed the Spanish La Liga outfit are competing with Sevilla for the right-back.

However, Bellerin has been linked with a move away from north London for a while now.

The 25-year-old has drawn interest from two more Spanish sides, Atletico Madrid and Real Betis.

The Spain international has also earned links to Juventus and Paris Saint Germain.

Bellerin endured a tough campaign last year, featuring just 35 times across all competition.

The full-back lost his place to Cedric Soares and Calum Chambers in the second-half of the campaign.

He was laballed a ‘key figure‘ by Mikel Arteta last year.

TBR View: More interested parties means a higher transfer fee for Arsenal for Bellerin

The more teams interested in Bellerin, the higher the club can drive the price up for the defender.

The player’s current value is just £20m, according to CBS Sports. Given the fact, he has two years left on his current deal and his profile, it should be higher.

Arsenal’s negotiating skills in the transfer market has been poor for a number of years.

There are a raft of examples of players walking away for minimal transfer fees or on a free.

Aaron Ramsey is the biggest example of how not to conduct a sale. The Welshman was let go for free in the prime of his career with Arsenal missing out on a bumper transfer fee.

With four La Liga sides joining teams from France and Italy for the defender, Bellerin should fetch a handsome sum. Villarreal and their bid should be one of a number of offers Arsenal will receive for the defender.

His fee can help the Gunners acquire a new right-back more in the mould of what Mikel Arteta demands.
