'Been told': Fabrizio Romano shares what he's heard about Matheus Nunes to Liverpool

Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to provide an update on Liverpool and Matheus Nunes.

The Reds have been linked with the Brazilian midfielder in recent months.

Back in July, Portuguese media reports claimed Liverpool were hoping to sign Nunes.

The 24-year-old ended up joining Wolves, but it looks as though there’s a chance he may only stay the year.

On Tuesday, Romano said Liverpool “are keen” on bringing Nunes to Anfield for next season.

The transfer insider also claimed that a potential move to Liverpool was discussed ahead of his Wolves switch.

Better yet for the Reds fanbase, Romano says Liverpool would look to sign Nunes as well as Jude Bellingham.

‘One of the best players in the world today’

Speculation linking Liverpool and Nunes has intensified in recent days.

Last week, The Telegraph claimed that Liverpool were set to agree a £44m deal with Wolves to sign Nunes.

It’s an interesting transfer story. Nunes has only been at Molineux for a number of months, and now it looks as though Liverpool could snap him up in a few months’ time.

Liverpool could certainly do with bolstering their midfield ranks right away, amid expiring contracts and ageing legs.

Perhaps Jurgen Klopp felt he could get by until the end of the season, after which several players are set to leave on free transfers.

And at that point, Nunes could come in, alongside Jude Bellingham (if all goes well).

Many fans will remember what Pep Guardiola said about Nunes last year. It was very high praise indeed.

“Matheus Nunes is one of the best players in the world today,” he said after Manchester City beat Sporting 5-0 in the Champions League.

“Despite the difficulties and some mistakes, I have to be very satisfied because we took a big step towards the next round.

“Nunes is one of the best at the moment.”

With that in mind, Nunes is certainly a great shout for Liverpool
