‘Beautiful player’… Pundit tells Tottenham 23-year-old would be their perfect signing, he’s a ‘diamond’

Robbie Earle believes that he has spotted the perfect player for Tottenham Hotspur after his performance at the weekend.

Saturday proved to be another frustrating one for Ange Postecoglou’s side. Spurs suffered their second 2-1 defeat to Wolves this season, with Gary O’Neil’s men putting a dent in Tottenham’s top four hopes in the Premier League.

Joao Gomes got both of the goals. But there was another assist for Pedro Neto in what is proving to be an outstanding campaign for the Portuguese.

Only Ollie Watkins and Kieran Trippier have set up more goals in the Premier League than the 23-year-old. And speaking on The 2 Robbies about his display, Robbie Earle suggested that Postecoglou should have taken notice of the winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

“Pedro Neto, my friend, is an absolute diamond who, I put a note – and I hope Wolves fans don’t hate me for this – would be a perfect Tottenham Hotspur player by the way, playing in them wide positions on the counter attack with pace, dropping inside, making goals. Beautiful player,” he said.

Wolves are going to demand a hefty sum

It does appear that Neto is on going to be on the radar of a number of sides this summer. Previously, he has struggled with a couple of injuries. But he has been absolutely prolific this season, proving to be directly involved in 11 goals.

Tottenham are one of the teams interested in Neto. But you can imagine that it is going to be an incredibly competitive battle for his signature.

Certainly, Wolves will feel that performances like the one on Saturday are only pushing his asking price higher and higher.

But plenty of Tottenham fans will agree with Earle’s assessment that Neto would be perfect for them as they look to build on what has been a promising first year under Postecoglou in North London.
