‘Be aware’: Gilberto Silva says one Spurs player is ‘quality’ and Arsenal need to watch out for him

Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva has praised Tottenham Hotspur forward Gareth Bale, urging Mikel Arteta’s Gunners to be wary of the Spurs star in Sunday’s North London derby.

Bale returned to Spurs on loan from Real Madrid in September and, following a difficult few months back in North London, is now fully up and running.

He has registered four goals and two assists in his last four Premier League games as well as two goals and one assist in the two Europa League round of 32 games against Wolfsberger.

Bale came off the bench in Thursday night’s Europa League last-16 first leg win over Dinamo Zagreb and gave a great account of himself in the 26 minutes he played.

He nearly created a goal for Steven Bergwijn with a supergb outside-of-the-boot cross, tested the opposition goalkeeper with a free kick, and was involved in build-up to Kane’s second goal.

Speaking on the Invisible Wall podcast, Gilberto made it clear that Arsenal should be concerned about Bale’s individual qualities and link-up with Harry Kane.

“Another player for Arsenal to be concerned, of course, because he has got quality and partnership with Harry Kane,” Gilberto said.

“He also is another player who understands the dimension of this game. Everyone at Arsenal needs to be aware.”

It’s great to see Bale finally up and running following a difficult few months at Spurs, the Wales international answering his critics and naysayers.

There’s a lot at stake in Sunday’s derby, and with Arsenal’s defence fairly shaky in recent weeks and Spurs’ attackers firing on all cylinders, the Gunners must be careful.
