BBC Sport pundit says £21m Arsenal player completely went missing against Porto

Neil Lennon has been critical of Arsenal No.19 Leandro Trossard for his performance in the UEFA Champions League clash against Porto.

The 52-year-old made the comments when speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Well, the man from Lurgan felt the Belgium international went missing inside the Estádio do Dragão as Arsenal eventually succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Porto.

Lennon said: “I don’t think Mikel Arteta needs to make a substitution just yet, with 25-30 minutes still left to play of the game, but Leandro Trossard has been on the periphery of the game in this second half, and he missed the best chance his side have had too.”

The Spaniard did eventually withdraw the Belgian for Jorginho in the 74th minute – although the switch failed to inspire much improvement from Arsenal, who eventually succumbed to a remarkable 93rd minute winner from Galeno.

How Leandro Trossard performed in Porto 1-0 Arsenal

The £21m man has performed fantastically across recent weeks, although he will surely be frustrated with his display against Porto.

As shown by WhoScored, Trossard failed to have a shot on target against the Portuguese giants, nor did he register a single successful dribble.

The 29-year-old also struggled to get involved from a defensive viewpoint, failing to record a single interception, clearance or block before Arteta hauled him off for Jorginho.

Of course, Trossard cannot solely be blamed for the 1-0 defeat, as Arsenal looked miles off it across the pitch. The entire team was out of sorts, and amazingly failed to record a shot on target.

Hopefully, Arteta can put things right on the training pitch at London Colney, and Arsenal turn things around at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg.
