Garth Crooks has urged Harry Kane to move abroad if he is to leave Tottenham this summer.

The future of England captain Kane is being heavily discussed right now, as he’s in the prime years of his career and is still yet to a win a trophy.

His club are in the final of the Carabao Cup later this month against Manchester City, but are off the pace in the Premier League sat sixth.

Kane, 27, has been linked with Premier League rivals Man City.

BBC Sport claims that the centre-forward is viewed as an alternative option to Erling Haaland this summer, and is on their transfer shortlist.

BBC pundit Crooks has claimed that the Spurs frontman should join a team abroad if he does end up exiting at the end of the season, as he fears it could frustrate his club’s fans if he stays in England.

“Whether Kane should leave his beloved club is a matter for him but it will come at a price. Teddy Sheringham and Sol Campbell both left Spurs in search of medals and found them with rival teams but the recrimination that followed was almost unbearable and produced the sort of resentment that only comes when fans feel betrayed,” Crooks told BBC Sport.

“If Kane were to leave – and let me stress I am not saying he should – he would have to go abroad. Playing for Manchester United, Liverpool or Manchester City would be more than Tottenham fans could bear.”

TBR’s View:

It would leave a sour taste in the mouths of Spurs fans if Kane enjoyed success at a league rival, but there will be some who won’t begrudge him a move elsewhere after what he’s already done for the club.

Gareth Bale was still loved by supporters after his first exit from the north London club to join Real Madrid, where he went on to become a serial trophy winner.

Kane has remarkably scored 29 goals in 41 games across all competitions this season, as well as provide 16 assists.

It would be a crying shame if he failed to win a trophy in his career, so this month’s cup final looks so vital for several reasons.
