Tottenham Hotspur full-back Destiny Udogie earned praise from Clinton Morrison during Spurs’ FA Cup third-round meeting with Burnley on Friday night.
The BBC Sport pundit, speaking on Radio 5 Live, lauded the 21-year-old Spurs talent – as well as eventual match-winner Pedro Porro – for their impact on the game.
Ange Postecoglou’s charges got the better of the Clarets at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to seal a place in the fourth round of the competition.
Admittedly, it wasn’t a vintage performance from Spurs, or indeed Burnley. However, a 78th-minute moment of brilliance proved the difference between the Premier League duo.
Porro won the ball back inside the Burnley half, took a touch to steady himself, and then let rip with an unstoppable strike into the top-left corner.
‘Crucial’
While the Spaniard got the spotlight for his outstanding winner, Udogie also impressed on the night with yet another solid display.
The 20-year-old was energetic and defended strongly, whilst also getting forward well and linking up well with Brennan Johnson.

“Tottenham’s full backs Udogie and Porro will be crucial in this second half,” Morrison said on Radio 5 Live – via the BBC Sport website – shortly after the second half got under way.
“Everything positive going forward seems to go through them (the full-backs). Inverting into midfield at times, they cause so many problems.”
Tottenham strike gold with Destiny Udogie signing
Tottenham well and truly struck gold with Udogie. At just 21 years of age, he’s already a fixture in the Spurs starting XI, and he more than holds his own in the Premier League.
It’ll be exciting to see how the Italian continues to develop. He’s at the right place at Tottenham under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou, and it looks as though he can become a superstar.
