Liverpool won out in the Merseyside derby today, beating Everton 2-0 to keep up their relentless pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple.
Goals from Andy Robertson and then Divock Origi ensured that the Reds took the spoils against their big rivals and put Everton further into the mire in the relegation zone.
One of the key features of Liverpool’s performance today was the amount of possession they had. The Reds recorded more than 80% in the possession stats, with Thiago and Fabinho key to that once more. Indeed, Spanish star Thiago lived up to his billing after a fine performance against Man United.

And his performance fitted in perfectly with what former Man City man Nedum Onuoha had said about him prior to kick off.
“Thiago is brilliant when you see someone trying to press him from behind. He knows exactly where he is, he’s toying with him; before you know it, there is a drop of the shoulder, a move to the side and he’s cleared them. They are the worst players to face,” Onuoha said of Thiago on BBC Sport.
Thiago has cemented his place as one of Liverpool’s best and most important players. He struggled initially, but since settling in fully he’s a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s system.
TBR’s View: Thiago A World Class Operator
Since sealing his place in the midfield at Liverpool, Thiago has shown just why was so widely respected at Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
He is simply a class act. He knows when the play different passes and when to slow and speed the game up. He’s also not scared to put his foot in, making him the ideal player in these sorts of games.
Thiago has been an outstanding signing by Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are a better team with him involved.
