Chelsea were well and truly battered by Leeds United today at Elland Road as Jesse Marsch’s side romped to a 3-0 win.
The Whites produced the goods in front of a raucous Elland Road crowd to make it two wins from two at home and give Leeds the perfect platform to build the rest of their season on.
For Chelsea, of course, it was a nightmare day at the office. Thomas Tuchel was a frustrated figure after the game and his dejected demeanour pretty much summed up how the Chelsea players had played. Indeed, there wasn’t really anything positive to say about any of the Blues XI. It was a disjointed and frustrating performance throughout, and commenting on the game for BBC, Pat Nevin noticed just how angry Thiago Silva was getting.

“That first 45 mins was brilliant by Jesse Marsch, the players did well and seemed to be everywhere making no space for Chelsea. Any time Chelsea got the ball they were closed down by Leeds. Panic stations for Chelsea, Thiago Silva noticed it before the first goal, screaming to get his players closer together but didn’t move it quick enough. By the time they adapted they were five minutes too late and two goals down,” Nevin said.
TBR’s View: Chelsea Frustrations All Leeds Doing
If you are making an experienced campaigner like Thiago Silva lose his rag then you are doing something right and Leeds can be delighted with their performance today.
As soon as that first goal went in, Leeds were right in Chelsea’s faces and it never looked like being anything other than a win for the home side.
For Silva and his Chelsea teammates, it’s time to get back to the drawing board. The Blues need to regroup and probably need a few new faces as well. It is, then, a big week ahead of the club.
