BBC pundit names who he thinks will win the title after watching Arsenal beat Brighton

Clinton Morrison has responded to being asked whether he thinks Arsenal will win the Premier League this season after watching their victory over Brighton on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side got back to winning ways after their defeat to Aston Villa and their draw in midweek against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz scored at either end of the second-half for the Gunners. The result keeps the pressure on the likes of Liverpool, Villa and Manchester City.

Clinton Morrison still expects Arsenal to miss out on title

Of course, City slipped up on Saturday, drawing 2-2 with Crystal Palace. That result leaves Pep Guardiola’s side five points behind Arsenal in the table right now.

Nevertheless, speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, Morrison suggested after the win over Brighton that he still believes that Arsenal will fall short again this year as he is expecting the champions to come good again at some point.

“I’ve said it all along, I still think Man City will win the league, I do,” he said.

“But I do believe it’s a three-horse race and it’ll go right down to the wire, but I still think that Man City are the team that come January and February, can go on that amazing run when Kevin de Bruyne comes back fit as well.

“So, I still think it’s going to be Man City, but in another month if they keep dropping points I might have to change my mind.”

Gunners still yet to find top gear

Morrison is expecting City to find some form. But it has to be said that neither Liverpool or Arsenal have produced their best stuff just yet.

Arsenal have already needed a number of late winners to secure victories this season. And Liverpool have required a couple of superb comebacks themselves.

The Gunners had the opportunities to kill the Brighton game long before Kai Havertz scored in the 87th minute. And the likes of Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli have been nowhere near as influential this season.

So it is surely fair to say that the other sides should be very worried about what Arsenal may be capable of if everything clicks.
