BBC pundit makes prediction for Leeds v Tottenham this Saturday at Elland Road
Mark Lawrenson has predicted Leeds United will lose 2-0 at home to Tottenham this Saturday at Elland Road.
Leeds host Spurs on the weekend for a Premier League fixture that has a lot riding on it for the visitors.
Leeds are mid-table in the league trying to finish as high as possible. Meanwhile, Spurs are sixth in the division standings and still have an outside shot of reaching the Champions League positions under interim boss Ryan Mason.
BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson pointed out the significance of Leeds duo Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, who manager Marcelo Bielsa was tight-lipped about when asked about their fitness ahead of the weekend.
He has named Spurs pair Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son as the likely match-winners though.
“Leeds were pretty poor in their defeat at Brighton last week when they missed injured duo Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha. Both of them are doubts for this game and it would definitely mean advantage to Tottenham if they miss out again,” Lawrenson wrote for BBC Sport.
“I fancy Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to cause Leeds plenty of problems, and Spurs to leave with the points.”
If Spurs attackers Kane and Son pop up with goals this weekend, then there won’t be a football fan in England that will be shocked.
They are so often the go-to men for the north London club, and both scored in a 3-0 win over Leeds in the corresponding league fixture this season back in January.
However, it’s worth noting that they go into this weekend off the back of a 4-0 win over Sheffield Untied, and it was Welsh attacker Gareth Bale who was in stunning form with a hat-trick.
