Matt Kilgallon has told BBC Radio Leeds that Luis Sinisterra was very exciting on his full Leeds United debut as the Whites booked their place in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Leeds will face Wolves in November after winning the Yorkshire derby 3-1 at Elland Road. Mateusz Klich scored in either half to see Jesse Marsch’s men through.

But it was Sinisterra who scored the opening goal. The Colombian winger produced a stunning finish from outside the box to break the deadlock.

Meanwhile, he won the penalty from which Klich doubled Leeds’ lead. And he was also involved in the build-up to the final goal of the evening.

Some may have expected Sinisterra to be in something of a no-win situation. A raft of changes were made off the back of an incredible performance from Leeds at the weekend. And obviously, many would have predicted that Leeds would get through comfortably.

But Sinisterra did indeed manage to impress. And Kilgallon admitted that he is really looking forward to seeing a lot more of the 23-year-old after his performance on Wednesday.

“He’s exciting, isn’t he. And you can see that when he’s out there, he’s going to produce something. If he gets you one on one, then probably only outcome really that he’s getting past you,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“I can understand the fans getting excited with him. But I’d like to see him against better opposition. Very exciting though and looks like he’s settled in well. Took his goal brilliantly.”

Sinisterra very exciting on full Leeds debut

There definitely has to be a debate regarding whether Sinisterra should come in to start against Brighton this weekend.

Clearly, Marsch is not going to drop Jack Harrison or Brenden Aaronson. And in fairness, Daniel James was much more impressive than a lot will give him credit for against Chelsea.

But Sinisterra is knocking on the door and pushing the Welshman.

It is the kind of dilemma Leeds did not have often last season. So Marsch may not mind having to disappoint one of his attacking players ahead of the clash with the Seagulls.
