'Really good': BBC pundit impressed by 'amazing' Tottenham player at the World Cup today
Tottenham winger Ivan Perisic featured for Croatia against Canada this evening and he was impressive enough in his performance.
The European side were up against a tough and pacey Canadian side who threatened to cause a massive shock, especially during the first-half. However, Croatia got themselves a foothold in the game and showed their class.
“It’s been really well-measured by Croatia and they’ve looked like they could’ve got more. The speed at which they’ve got runners going forward when they’re breaking is brilliant. Kovacic is showing his pace but also in wide areas Perisic and Kramaric are looking really good in the attack,” Upson said.
“You feel like if they get the right combinations and numbers in the right areas then they’ll pick Canada off.”
Dubbed an ‘amazing‘ player by Ian Wright when he signed for Tottenham, Perisic always seems to turn in the performances for Croatia when it matters. For Tottenham fans, it will be a delight to see the experienced winger showing some form over in Qatar.
TBR’s View: Perisic needs to show Croatia form with Tottenham
There was no doubt that when Ivan Perisic signed for Tottenham he was going to be a success. He is too good, too experienced to fail.
But up until now, Tottenham haven’t quite seen the very best of the winger. There have been moments of class, but nothing like he has produced in the past.
However, he did show for Croatia today at times how good he can be. If he can bring that back to Spurs and produce the goods, then that top four spot could very much be in sight for Antonio Conte’s side.
