'Perfect': BBC pundit so impressed by 'important' Spurs player who was unlucky against Liverpool
Dejan Kulusevski did his very best to make a difference as Tottenham played Liverpool today in North London.
In an entertaining game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it was Mo Salah’s double for Liverpool that made the difference for the Reds.
However, while the result wasn’t exactly what Tottenham fans might have wanted, the return of winger Kulusevski was welcome. The Swede mad an instant impact, playing in Harry Kane to get a goal back.
And watching on BBC commentary, former Brighton ace Glenn Murray picked out just how much Spurs fans love Kulusevski, before he underlined his importance with the assist.
“Listen to that welcome for Dejan Kulusevski. All of a sudden this Spurs side look a bit more potent. Kulusevski is that link between the attack and the defence. He’s just the perfect fit to release the usual Son and Kane,” Murray said.
“I was just saying how important Dejan Kulusevski is. He gets on the ball and he feds that man Harry Kane. He makes no mistake as he drills it into the bottom right hand corner of Alisson’s net. We have a game on our hands now!,” Murray added just after.
Kulusevski being back is the big plus point for Tottenham today. But at the end of the day, it’s more points dropped and a huge boost for Liverpool.
TBR’s View: Kulusevski so vital for Tottenham
There is no doubt this Tottenham side has been missing Dejan Kulusevski. And he showed just why today.
Sure, the win wasn’t achieved in the end. But having him back available is massive for Antonio Conte and he’ll be ruing him being missing for the past few weeks as results have dipped.
For Spurs, the World Cup can’t come soon enough. They need players back and quickly, as it showed with Kulusevski’s return today.
