BBC pundit blown away by what Sadio Mane did for Liverpool in first-half
James McFadden has told BBC Radio Five Live that the pass from Sadio Mane for the Liverpool goal from Mohamed Salah against Manchester United was absolutely world-class.
The Reds went into the break 2-0 ahead after a scintillating performance at Anfield. It was Luis Diaz who put the home side in front after the visitors left Liverpool with the freedom of the city down the right flank.
Salah went from provider to goalscorer midway through the first-half. Liverpool produced a stunning move in the middle of the pitch which led to Mane receiving the ball with his back to goal around 30 yards out.
The Senegal international managed to lift a delicious pass into the path of Salah. Unsurprisingly, the Liverpool talisman made absolutely no mistake, with David De Gea looking defeated before the ball had even crossed the line.
The whole move was lauded by McFadden. And he did credit Salah for the first touch. But clearly, the moment of brilliance that really caught his eye came from Mane.
“That is an absolutely magnificent piece of football from Liverpool,” he told BBC Radio Five Live.
“It’s a great touch by Salah and when he gets into that sort of situation you know he’s not missing. The pass from Sadio Mane is absolutely world class.
“Liverpool have been totally dominant and they look like they can cut Manchester United open at will.”
Sadio Mane in absolutely stunning form as Liverpool blue Manchester United away
Salah ended a lengthy wait for a goal from open play on Tuesday night. But while he has struggled in front of goal, Mane has certainly stepped up.
He scored twice in the outstanding FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City at Wembley at the weekend. And in total, he had four in four leading into the latest game.
Liverpool absolutely blew Manchester United away during the first-half at Anfield. And Mane was one of several who were outrageously good.
