'How many players?': BBC pundit blown by what Tottenham man did late on against Morecambe

Tottenham Hotspur eventually saw off Morecambe this afternoon as a late comeback spared their embarrassment in front of their own supporters.

Spurs looked on course to lose right until Harry Winks scored with around 15 minutes to play. The goal seemed to galvanise the home side, and Lucas Moura and then Harry Kane scored to ensure a 3-1 win for Antonio Conte’s men.

Conte’s substitutions, ultimately, changed the game. He brought on Lucas, Kane, and Oliver Skipp all at the same time and all three played their part in changing the game. Lucas, in particular, was excellent. However, it was the third goal from England skipper Kane which caught the eye of the onlooking BBC pundit, Pat Nevin.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live, Nevin admitted he was impressed with how Kane had seized his chance late on.

DIVOCK ORIGI DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.

“How many players would think to hit from that position? He has his back to the goal, he has turned and flicked it as he knows where the back post is. He instinctively knows where the back post is but it’s another mistake,” Nevin said.

“You don’t make mistake against top class players, they will punish you. They certainly have.”

Kane has started to his form lately. His introduction certainly put the fear into Morecambe today, and his goal once again showed his class.

TBR’s View: Tottenham Show Just Enough To Please Conte

It wasn’t vintage by any means. But Conte will have been pleased to see his changes take effect and eventually, see his team into the next round.

The big issue Conte has is these fringe players are not good enough. Time and again they get chances and time again, they let the manager down. That first half performance today was very poor indeed from some.

Harry Kane, on the other hand, continues to be an example at Tottenham. Yes, he had his issues in the summer but when it comes to the crunch, he delivers.
