Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has been described by BBC Sport pundit Billy Dodds as a “marvellous” player for the Gunners following his masterclass for Scotland on Wednesday night.

The 23-year-old joined Arsenal in 2019 from Celtic in a reported £25million deal, arriving at the Emirates Stadium to much fanfare given his heroics for the Scottish Premiership team.

Tierney has established himself as a key player in Mikel Arteta’s defence and is going from strength to strength, his consistency standing out even during the Gunners’ struggles earlier this season.

The £81,000-a-week star has also produced three superb showings for Scotland over the international break to further bolster his reputation as one of the best defenders in Europe.

Tierney saved his best for last in the 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over the Faroe Islands, regularly surging forward and providing a staggering three assists.

He did this despite being deployed on the left side of a back three.

Speaking after the game, former Scotland international Dodds told BBC Sportsound (22:03): “£25m was a steal for him for Arsenal.

“Even off the pitch, he is so impressive. I’m sitting here wondering if he’s got any faults?”

Dodds also said: “He was excellent, marvellous, all the descriptive words you want to use, you can use them.

“It won’t happen against better opposition – your left centre-half bombing forward – but it was lovely to watch.”

TBR View:

Tierney has been one of Arsenal’s best and most consistent players, shining amid a sea of mediocrity earlier this season and now looking more inspired than ever as the team gets back on track.

On top of his heroics at club level, he’s also shining for his country, and Gunners fans will be eager to see how he gets on in the European Championships this summer.
