Bayern’s interest in Leeds’ Raphinha could open door for Douglas Costa switch to Elland Road

Latest reports today suggest that Leeds United winger, Raphinha, is now wanted by German giants Bayern Munich, alongside the likes of Liverpool.

Calciomercato have made the claim about Raphinha. They suggest Bayern have put the winger on their radar following his impressive season in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa.

Of course, Leeds won’t want to lose a player they value so highly. Raphinha has become one of Leeds’ best attacking outlets, so any notion of selling him would likely go down like a lead balloon in West Yorkshire.

But every player has his price, and should Leeds decide to cash in on Raphinha and sell him to Bayern, then a ready-made replacement may already be out there and, coincidentally, with Bayern at the moment.

We’re talking about Brazilian winger and Juventus man, Douglas Costa.

Leeds already linked with Costa, he’d be ideal

Reports laat month from CM24 claimed that Juventus were keen on bringing Leeds forward Rodrigo to Turin, and were willing to offer Douglas Costa in return.

Bayern’s interest in Raphinha seems to suggest that the German club aren’t going to take up any option to sign the 30-year-old on a permanent deal, despite him being a first-team player this year.

Surely, then, if Leeds do sell Raphinha they should test the water with Juve and look to bring Costa in as his replacement?

In terms of like for like, they don’t come much more similar than the Brazilian duo. Both love to dribble, both love a trick, and both can produce the moments of magic that Raphinha has become known for at Elland Road.

So while Raphinha is the man of the moment for Leeds fans, the addition of Douglas Costa would certainly soften the blow of losing their summer signing.
