Battle for Survival
It’s all well and good looking at all of these top clubs, but what the Bundesliga arguably has an advantage on compared to the Premier League is a proper relegation scrap. Aston Villa would, at this point, be best served preparing for life battling a drop to League One, while Sunderland’s Premier League status also seems to be living a bit of a charmed life at this point.
In Germany, just six points separate bottom-placed Hoffenheim and twelfth-placed Augsburg, with each club in that range all having compelling arguments as to why they should get relegated. Hannover, currently seventeenth, have done the most about this so far, making five signings in the winter market, while Augsburg are on an upward curve after a rocky start to the season and Stuttgart will be hoping replacing Alex Zorniger with Jürgen Kramny just before the winter break.
Whatever happens, it’ll be interesting.
