Bayern have won the Bundesliga, but why should you still watch it in 2016?

In spite of mathematical fact saying otherwise, Bayern have won the Bundesliga. We still have seventeen games left to play until the Bundesliga closes its curtains for another season, yet even at this halfway point in the season, it seems inconceivable that the Rekordmeister will drop enough points for sides including an inconsistent Dortmund, a defensively shoddy Mönchengladbach, a topsy-turvy Leverkusen and a depleted Wolfsburg to even stake a challenge for the title this term.

Compared to the Premier League, where the title race is as enthralling as it will ever be, with a handful of clubs in the running for the status of English champions, the Bundesliga quite clearly lacks this edge of entertainment which might otherwise provide a reason to watch the league over the course of the second half of the season. To ignore the league completely would be a mistake, though, with a great deal of interesting plot-lines left to unfold until season’s end. Here, then, are five storylines to keep your eyes peeled for during 2016’s Rückrunde (second half of the season).
