Bassala Sambou has posted on Instagram after his exit was confirmed on Monday evening after three years at Everton – and many Toffees fans have reacted on Twitter to the news.
Sambou, 21, was part of the side that won Premier League 2 on two occasions since joining the club in the summer of 2016 from Coventry City’s youth team. He has been a regular member of Everton’s second string since joining.
The German-born striker scored 19 goals in 60 league and cup appearances for Everton’s reserve side as well as laying on six assists, with many of his outings coming from out wide – as well as up front.
Sambou’s contract expired on June 30 and it appears that he has indeed left the club, after he confirmed the departure on Monday. He posted a heartfelt message and thanked Everton on Monday evening.
Sambou failed to break into the senior side at Everton, failing to make a single appearance for Marco Silva’s first team. The likes of Dom Calvert-Lewin, Cenk Tosun, Oumar Niasse and more have sit above him since he joined.
Everton fans reacted to the news that Sambou has left Goodison Park this summer, with many wishing the German striker all the best for the future. It is believed by some fans that he set to join Dutch side Fortuna Sittard.
