Barry Ferguson shares what he has noticed about Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi
Barry Ferguson has told Go Radio that he has been hugely impressed with new Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi. The Japan international has been sensational for Celtic since his move to Parkhead from Vissel Kobe. Ferguson gave his verdict on Kyogo, heaping praise on the attacker.
Saturday afternoon saw Celtic clock up a second successive 6-0 Scottish Premiership win against St. Mirren. But perhaps what was just as surprising at the relative ease to Celtic’s win, was that Kyogo failed to get his name on the score sheet. But the no.8 has six goals in seven appearances.
Rangers legend Ferguson discussed Kyogo and what he had noticed about the six-time Japan international. He thinks that the versatile attacker is a “team player” and is the kind of player that Celtic fans will absolutely love going forward. Certainly, his work rate has been eye-catching so far.
“I think in terms of Kyogo, I think fans will love him because he is all action,” Ferguson told Go Radio recently. “He’s all energy, he’s a buzz ball. The Celtic fans have taken to him, he looks to me like a real team player. That’s one thing about him.”
Ferguson on Kyogo: How long can Celtic keep him?
The transfer model that Celtic adopt means that eventually, Kyogo will depart Celtic. His form already is likely to have caught the attention of scouts around Europe. Not only is he scoring goals, but he did set up Odsonne Edouard on Saturday, who continued to return to his best.
Celtic bought Moussa Dembele and sold him for profit. The same could be done regarding Edouard. Kyogo, bought for around £5million, is already worth a lot more than that but at 26 – he is older than the French duo. A couple of seasons at Celtic, and then who knows what his price tag is.
