Barry Douglas has taken to Twitter to express his excitement ahead of Leeds United’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, with the left-back insisting that he is supporting both clubs.
The Whites are about to tackle their first game since Douglas’s departure on the final day of the transfer window last week.
The 31-year-old has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan for the rest of the campaign. That has presented the defender with the chance to potentially secure his third promotion out of the Championship in four years.
Of course, he helped Leeds seal promotion last season. But he only arrived at Elland Road after also going up with Wolves back in 2018.
Douglas was crucial to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side’s fortunes as they won the title. He scored five goals and contributed 14 assists for Wolves.
That form made it appear a major coup for Leeds when they signed the Scot two years ago. Unfortunately, he was not able to quite replicate that form for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
He managed just six starts as Leeds clinched the title last season. And he failed to make a single match day squad in the Premier League before his departure.
Nevertheless, Douglas remains an incredibly popular figure amongst the Whites supporters. And that is perhaps why he showed no preference for either team on Twitter ahead of Monday’s clash between the two clubs.
Here is what Douglas posted on social media ahead of the game…
