Barry Douglas has probably summed up what a lot of Leeds United fans were left saying about Kalvin Phillips during the Whites’ latest clash, with the left-back labelling the midfielder a joke in response to his old teammate’s Instagram post on the defeat.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were beaten 3-1 at Chelsea last week. However, the game at Stamford Bridge started in remarkable fashion for the visitors.

Phillips produced a sumptuous first-time pass into Patrick Bamford’s path in the fourth minute. And that allowed the striker to take the ball round the goalkeeper and find the back of the net.
It was an outrageous assist from Phillips. Actually, it was his first since the opening day of the campaign when his long pass found Jack Harrison.

The 25-year-old was, once again, outstanding in his latest performance. The display came a week after he was flawlessly spraying the ball everywhere at Everton.
He is not only proving to be the shield that protects the back line. But he is also really finding his feet as Leeds’s quarterback at the highest level.
That is perhaps why Phillips suggested on social media that there was mixed feelings following their latest result…
And amongst those to reply was Douglas. The left-back – who is on loan from the Whites with Blackburn Rovers – arguably hit the nail on the head with his response…
