Barry Douglas: Adama Traore is best I have played against in England

Leeds United left-back Barry Douglas has been praising Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore in conversation with the official Leeds United Twitter account this week.

The Scotland international left Wolves in 2018 after winning promotion with the club so never got the chance to play with the exciting Spanish winger.

Traore joined Wolves that same summer after impressive form at Middlesbrough. However, he did play against him. Douglas featured at left-back against Traore as Wolves beat Middlesbrough in March 2018.

Traore got the assist for Boro’s goal that day, setting up another current Leeds star Patrick Bamford, and Douglas admits he is the toughest player he has faced in England.

“Since I have been in England, probably Adama Traore. Just the way that he moves he is unplayable at times. It’s impossible to stop him when he’s on his game. If you try and kick him, he’s too strong and you end up hurting yourself. He’s so quick. He was definitely difficult.”

Traore has finally managed to turn his precocious ability into something more tangible at Wolves this season.

The 24-year-old has played 43 times this season, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists but has been immensely impressive along the way.

Undoubtedly, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has had a massive impact on the former La Masia talent. It is no wonder, amid reported interest from Liverpool, that Wolves reportedly (Daily Mail) value Traore at €80 million (£70m).

Douglas will no doubt be slightly disappointed he never had the chance to play with the Spanish speedster.
