Barnsley assistant manager Dale Tonge has been speaking about his club’s interest in signing Tom Pearce from Leeds United this summer.
As per the Yorkshire Post, Tonge says there is interest in the defender but there’s been no bid yet, and hinted that there could be more arrivals from Elland Road.
He said: “We’ve had conversations about a number of lads at Leeds and Pearce was one of those players because we identified that these positions we need to strengthen.
“It’s more about experience at the level, he’s got minutes at that level and he’s obviously a very good player. At this moment in time we have not made an approach for Pearce.”

Barnsley have already poached two talented players from their local rivals, in the shape of Aapo Halme and Mallik Wilks, and seem keen for more.
A swoop for Pearce looks to be on the cards and from what Tonge said, that may not be the end of the business between the Yorkshire rivals.
It seems an odd strategy for Leeds to be letting some of their talented youngsters leave for a rival club.
That’s especially the case when Leeds’ squad is so small, Marcelo Bielsa likes giving opportunities to young players and Barnsley are now competing in the same league as the Whites.
