Borna Barisic may have become a firm fan favourite amongst Rangers supporters, but his agent appears to put that status under threat after commenting on the left-back’s future.
Ives Cakarun suggested, in comments reports by the Daily Record, that Rangers would not be able to keep the defender beyond the summer after the campaign he has enjoyed.

Of course, it must be noted that the Gers are in a strong position. As reported by the Daily Record, Barisic will have more than four years left on his contract this summer.
But much will surely depend on Barisic. He may make it clear that he is keen to stay at Ibrox, or, at the very least, that he is not going to let speculation affect him.
However, Steven Gerrard may be tempted to cash in if Barisic suggests that he would like to go. As good as he has been this season, Rangers will be wary of rediscovering the player who struggled throughout his first year in Scotland.
And thus, the Light Blues may be tempted to consider their own options in case Barisic does make it clear that he would like to go.

And one of the options they surely must now consider is a new contract for Andy Halliday.
As shown by Transfermarkt, Halliday’s deal expires this summer. And it is perhaps telling that Rangers are yet to announce an extension. It may not surprise a lot of supporters if he leaves at the end of the season.
Admittedly, Halliday should probably not be a starting left-back for a title-chasing side. However, he has stepped up on the large majority of occasions he has been called upon. He can certainly do a job in that role as an understudy.
Offering him a new one or two-year deal gives Rangers a little more security should they decide to sell Barisic this summer.
Halliday is not a replacement. But he can certainly take a little pressure off while they look for Barisic’s successor.
And of course, he is capable of playing in midfield if required.
Rangers do not need to make a decision just yet. And Barisic may well alleviate all of their concerns by distancing himself from his agent’s remarks.
But following the comments, Rangers must make sure the door on Halliday remains open for the time-being.
