Barcelona have some interesting plans regarding Marc Cucurella this summer, according to reports. Sport are reporting that Barcelona plan on exercising their buy-back option for the Eibar left-back this summer. It comes after an excellent season with the Basque side in La Liga.
However, they do not plan on keeping him. Instead, Barcelona are ready to sell the defender whilst his stock is high.
The report suggests Barca will look for around €10 million (£8.9 million) for the player. Teams in Germany are reportedly already in contact. But surely Newcastle United should now spring into action.
As reported by The Chronicle toward the end of last month Newcastle are also keen on the 20-year-old.
That report stated Sevilla were also keen on the player and could provide competition. However, the latest report from Sport suggests the Rojiblancos will not pay the asking price.
Whilst Newcastle United are hardly big spenders, this fee seems to be in their price range.
For a young talent with plenty of resale value, it is a deal that certainly would appeal to Mike Ashley’s business mind more than big bucks on Salomon Rondon.
Considering he could be a long-term solution at left-back for Newcastle it is surely a deal the Magpies will have to consider.
