A week ago Everton fans suddenly got very excited at the prospect of signing Malcom from Bordeaux. One of the hottest attacking prospects in Europe, Sky Sports suggested a £30 million deal had been agreed with his French club and a move was on the horizon.
The next morning a sobering report hit home. The Liverpool Echo made it clear that there was no bid and no interest in a bid from Everton for Malcom. Instead, they made a £50 million move for Richarlison.
Since then Roma have used their money from the sale of Alisson to Liverpool to swoop. It seemed a deal was in the bag. Until, last night, another twist. Barcelona decided they wanted the player and Bordeaux pulled the plug on the Roma deal. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona decided that Chelsea winger Willian was too expensive so went for the 21-year-old instead.
Now it seems Barcelona is his destination, which could ironically be great news for Everton.

Everton want Barcelona defender Yerry Mina. The Colombian starred at the World Cup and, according to Goal, Everton have lodged a £21 million bid for the player.
There has been a growing school of thought that Mina could actually remain at Barcelona but if Malcom arrives, that won’t be happening.
His signature would take Barcelona to their limit of non-EU players, despite an attempt to secure Philippe Coutinho a Portuguese passport and freeing up one space. Mina would be the first man pushed out of Barcelona if this becomes the case.
So in not moving for Malcom, Everton could sign a centre-back they desperately need. A whirlwind affair in which Everton could come out sitting on a golden egg.
