Report: Barcelona plan to scupper Arsenal’s summer hopes of landing ‘exceptional’ attacking star

Arsenal could be facing up to another Dusan Vlahovic scenario this summer, as Barcelona are reportedly preparing a move to land Sociedad striker, Alexander Isak, in the transfer window.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for Isak. He emerged as a prime target after Vlahovic signed for Juventus close to the deadline. That came after Arsenal had tracked the Serbian all summer and winter, before seeing the Turin giants swoop in.

And according to 90Min, the same could be about to happen with Isak. Their report claims that the Catalan giants are looking into the possibility of signing Isak in the summer. Barcelona, somehow, have got money to spend, despite spiralling debts and off-field issues.

Isak, who Gary Lineker branded as ‘exceptional’ during the Euros, has emerged as one of the continent’s top talents.

He is expected to cost big money, though, with reports of a £75m release-clause doing the rounds on deadline day.

TBR’s View: Arsenal Have To Get A Striker…And Soon

The one thing Arsenal cannot do this summer is put all their eggs in one basket. If they insist on signing Isak, then they simply need to make the deal happen early in the window or move on.

Barcelona’s interest here is worrying if you’re an Arsenal fan. Juventus have already done them out of a huge signing in Vlahovic, and this would be a similar nightmare scenario.

Isak, as we know, is a good player. But the Gunners can’t get to the end of the summer and see the same thing happen.
