Helder Costa posted a series of pictures on Instagram as Leeds United celebrated winning the Championship with a 3-1 win over Derby County on Sunday afternoon – and a Barcelona player has congratulated the Portuguese ace.
Costa, 26, was not included in the Leeds squad that beat Derby after suffering an injury in the 1-0 win over Barnsley. However, he travelled with the Leeds side that were given a guard of honour at Pride Park.
Goals from Pablo Hernandez, Jamie Shackleton and an own goal from Derby defender Matt Clarke saw the Whites climb to an impressive points. Marcelo Bielsa’s side clearly have not stepped off the gas, despite winning the league.
Following the win over Derby, the Leeds players celebrated on the pitch after the full-time whistle as they finally got the chance to celebrate their promotion on the pitch – and Costa posted a number of photos on Instagram.
The one-time Portugal international has been a regular fixture of Bielsa’s side this season, clocking up 46 appearances and having a hand in 13 goals – scoring five and creating eight. He recently signed a permanent deal.
Plenty of supporters and old teammates congratulated Costa on Instagram – including former Benfica youth teammate Semedo, who has since become a £27million (Goal) Barcelona player.
His comment is translated as “congratulations brother”, while Barry Douglas also replied.
