Barcelona could be forced to sell Ousmane Dembele this summer and according to Team Talk, his preferred destination is Liverpool.
The Spanish champions are edging closer to the signing of Atletico Madrid sensation Antoine Griezmann and they may need to raise some funds.
The French striker has been given a glowing reference from Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu. He believes that Dembele is better than Brazilian superstar Neymar.
He told TVE, in quotes by Goal, back in April: “He is a young guy who arrived at a huge club and that’s not easy, but he has adapted and he is much better than Neymar.”
Those comments might have just been an idle attempt at stirring the pot ahead of the summer transfer window.
Liverpool should be looking to land Dembele, however.
The 22-year-old could still have an extremely bright future in the game and even at £90 million, he would represent an investment for years to come.
In two seasons at the Nou Camp, he has netted 18 goals and registered 17 assists. That isn’t a bad return considering an extended run in the team hasn’t occurred on a frequent basis.
The 21-cap France international would relish playing in Jurgen Klopp’s team. He can play on either flank or through the middle and he enjoys the high-intensity football on the front foot.
Liverpool will probably opt for quality over quantity this summer and if they only land one player Dembele should be right at the top of the list.
