TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Barcelona have been closely watching a certain Newcastle United player in recent weeks as they consider making a move to sign him in the summer of 2025.
The Public Investment Fund-led Newcastle project seems to be right back on track this season as they sit in fifth place in the Premier League and have one foot in the Carabao Cup final after beating Arsenal 2-0.

With that being the case, Eddie Howe would have his sights set on having a strong season at St. James’ Park that gives them the right platform to build upon in the following campaign.
TBR Football confirmed Newcastle are unhappy about Abdukodir Khusanov closing in on a move to Manchester City and their mood could well be sour once again as one of their best players is targeted by arguably the biggest club in the world.

Barcelona keeping tabs on Alexander Isak to replace Robert Lewandowski
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can reveal that Barcelona have been watching Alexander Isak in recent weeks.
TBR Football can reveal Hansi Flick’s side have sent representatives at a handful of games to scout Isak, dubbed “unstoppable”, including the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final where he put Arsenal to the sword in what was a complete centre-forward display.
Barcelona are ready to move on from Robert Lewandowski, 36 this summer and Erling Haaland has always been president Joan Laporta’s dream target to replace the veteran.
However, Haaland is expected to extend his deal with Manchester City in the coming months.
As a result, the Spanish giants are doing their homework on potential successors to Lewandowski and the Swede has left them “massively impressed.”
Isak has been incredible for Newcastle this season and Barcelona have followed him for several years now, as they internally believe he is now one of the best strikers in world football.
TBR Football previously reported that Isak is settled at Newcastle but top clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have made enquiries to secure his services.
Newcastle know Alexander Isak could leave on one condition
The 26-year-old has a long-term contract with the Magpies that only expires in 2028. While talks were held over a contract extension last year, these negotiations were eventually put on hold.
TBR Football have been notified that Isak’s camp were “shocked” at Newcastle’s stance but the star striker has been content to focus on his football and it’s safe to say that he is doing his talking on the pitch.
Isak is not one of the highest-earners at St. James’ Park, TBR Football can confirm and Newcastle are aware of the interest surrounding their in-form finisher.
TBR Football are aware that Newcastle have privately accepted that a failure to qualify for the Champions League will make it nigh-on impossible for them to stop the former Real Sociedad hitman from leaving as he further cements his case as being a truly world-class forward.
