Barcelona fans react as Everton reportedly considering Ronald Araujo

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Everton are considering a move to raid Barcelona to sign highly rated defender Ronald Araujo this summer as Carlo Ancelotti looks to add another centre back – and Barca fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports.

One time Uruguay international Araujo, 22, joined Barcelona in the summer of 2018 but has only properly broken into the Barcelona first team of late. Ronald Koeman has given him 29 Barcelona appearances this season, with 35 outings in total.

Everton have numerous options in the middle of the defence at Goodison Park – with Ben Godfrey impressing in his first season alongside Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate. Ancelotti likes to use a back three and that means cover is crucial.

Romano has posted on Twitter that Everton are considering a raid on their former manager’s side in Barcelona for Araujo, who is contracted at Nou Camp until the summer of 2023. TransferMarkt claim he has the same agent as Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Barcelona fans have responded on Twitter to the news that Everton could reportedly consider a move to sign Araujo in the coming months. SPORT claim that Araujo has a huge £173million exit clause in his Barcelona contract ahead of the summer.

Some are open to the sale of Araujo, but the majority are keen to keep the South American at third-placed Barcelona – who remain in the hunt for the La Liga title and are just two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid with four games to play.
