Barcelona fans react as Arsenal reportedly eye defender Sergino Dest

Arsenal are reportedly interested in raiding Barcelona for Sergino Dest, despite the player looking to remain at the Nou Camp. Only joining Barcelona last summer, he has been crucial to Ronald Koeman’s side over the past 12 months. Barca’s fans have reacted to the reports.

Dest, 20, clocked up 41 appearances for Barcelona in his first season after leaving Ajax for £19million (BBC). He has also broken into the United States senior side, earning seven caps for his country. But there are claims that Barcelona might cash in in order to bring in a new defender.

Spanish newspaper SPORT claims Arsenal are one of a number of clubs said to be taking a look at Dest. The Gunners could do with a right-back as Hector Bellerin continues to get linked in the opposite direction. Cedric Soares has struggled and Calum Chambers is a centre-back.

However, Dest is planning on remaining at Barcelona – who finished in third place during 2020-21 – after a solid first season. Many Barcelona fans have reacted to the reports that Dest could leave with Arsenal a reported target. Some have suggested a swap. With Bellerin a target, one fan says he wants a swap.
