Barcelona have confirmed on their official website that striker Rafa Mujica is one of five players said to have left the Spanish giants this summer on a free transfer – which could prove as a boost for Leeds United.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed over the weekend that Leeds were closing in on the signing of Spaniard, who was a regular in Barcelona’s B-team last season. They play in the third tier of Spanish football.
Mujica, 20, scored seven goals in 33 games for Barca’s B-team last season, but was used on the wing just as much as he played up front. He started 23 of those matches, meaning his lack of goals is not as bad as it seems.
Leeds are said to be close to announcing his signature, and Barcelona’s confirmation on their website of his release will only provide the Whites with a boost in pursuit of the forward.

Barcelona have released Mujica alongside four others players, in the form of Jokin Ezkieta, Mate, Braima Fati and Merveil Ndockyt.
TBR’s view – Mujica arrival could mean promotion for Leeds teen
Ryan Edmondson absolutely shone in the second string of Leeds United last season, almost scoring at a ratio of a goal a game for Carlos Corberan’s side as they enjoyed Professional Development League North success.
There has been plenty of talk about Edmondson breaking into the senior side next season after goal tally last term, and Mujica’s arrival – which is expected to be in the second team – would replace the target man, if Edmondson gets promoted.
