Andres Iniesta can be the spark Barcelona need to recover any title hopes

Bizarrely, Barcelona’s best period of play in the match came after their goal, when both Neymar and Lionel Messi came close to extending their lead to two goals. That coincided with the reintroduction of Andres Iniesta, who has missed the last seven games with a knee injury.

The club captain, taking over from Xavi last summer, made an instant impact as he immediately added energy to the Barcelona midfield and linked midfield with attack, picking the ball up deep and driving forward, helping Neymar to get into the game as he fed him in on the left flank.

There was speculation that the playmaker could have started, but his fitness wasn’t worth risking for Luis Enrique, and now, after three consecutive draws, Iniesta is likely to return to the starting line-up for the trip to Osasuna as Barcelona seek to keep up with Real Madrid at the top of the league.
