Patrick Bamford has explained to The Leeds United podcast what he told Raphinha following his goal in Leeds’ recent 5-0 win as he joked about his frustration over not scoring himself.

Bamford has enjoyed a sensational season, surpassing all expectations. The 27-year-old has already scored 10 times in the Premier League, with three of his strikes coming since the start of December.

One of the games Bamford failed to score in however, was the demolition of West Brom at the Hawthorns. Remarkably, five different players found the back of the net. But of course, none were Bamford.

It was Raphinha who rounded off the win in some style. The Brazilian found the top corner with a stunning effort after some superb play down Leeds’ right wing which also involved Stuart Dallas and Jamie Shackleton.

Unsurprisingly, not scoring in a 5-0 win leads to bittersweet feelings for a striker, as Bamford explained what he told Raphinha after his goal.

“I’m buzzing that we won, but obviously I’m fuming that I haven’t scored,” he joked to The Leeds United podcast. “Raphinha obviously scored a worldie in the game and he was really happy after. And the first thing I said to him was, ‘yeah, good goal, but when are you going to assist me?'”

It is unlikely to be long before Raphinha and Bamford link up for a goal. Bamford is obviously in sensational form. And the summer signing has made an outstanding start to life at Elland Road.

He took little time to force his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s starting lineup. And he has vindicated that faith with two goals and two assists in his first 12 appearances for the Whites.
