'Ballon d'Or now': Some Sunderland fans hail 'unreal' player who tormented Cheltenham
A number of Sunderland fans have hailed Everton loanee Nathan Broadhead following his superb display against Cheltenham.
The Black Cats went top of League One thanks to a 5-0 hammering of the Robins at the Stadium of Light.
Bailey Wright opened the scoring for Sunderland in the 11th minute before Ross Stewart netted twice before the 40-minute mark.
Luke O’Nien and Leon Dajaku then scored within moments of each other in the 65th and 66th minutes.
And while Broadhead didn’t get on the scoresheet, he gave Cheltenham a torrid time and contributed to three of Sunderland’s goals.
He dummied the ball and let it run to Stewart for the second goal, then found Aiden McGeady, who in turn set up Stewart for the third.
And for Dajaku’s goal, Broadhead forced a save which his teammate curled home on the rebound.
Throughout the game, the 23-year-old made good runs and showed great composure in possession.
Indeed, the opposition defence was simply unable to get near him.
That said, Broadhead had to go off for the last five minutes of the game, and Sunderland had to play out the remainder with a man down.
Here is what some Sunderland fans made of Broadhead’s display:
