‘Balla’: Archer and Martinez love £25m Aston Villa man’s Instagram post after yesterday’s result

Aston Villa’s season might have turned a corner yesterday, after an impressive 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

The Premier League champions went ahead through Norwegian Erling Haaland.

Villa’s recent form would suggest Steven Gerrard’s side might struggle to get back into the game.

However, a wonderful strike from winger Leon Bailey brought his side level.

The Villains could have won it late on, but Philippe Coutinho was incorrectly ruled to be offside before scoring.

It was a very encouraging performance from Gerrard’s side, with Bailey in particular being praised by Gerrard.

The Jamaican attacker took to Instagram after the match to celebrate his goal.

Posting the caption: “You fans were amazing. Thank you for all the support. Definitely a performance to build on.”

Plenty of his Villa teammates replied to his post, supporting their teammate.

Diego Carlos posted a rocket emoji, and keeper Emi Martinez thought Bailey was on fire.

Forward Cameron Archer said: “Ya mon balla”, and clearly Bailey’s Villa teammates loved his goal yesterday.

Villa teammates loved Bailey’s goal

Leon Bailey’s first season at Aston Villa was very stop-start after his £25m move from Bayer Leverkusen.

The winger suffered with a thigh issue for several months last year, and was in and out of the Villa team.

Bailey only started seven times, and scored just a single goal.

Gabby Agbonlahor backed Gerrard to get the most out of Bailey last year, and this season is the time to prove that.

Scoring important goals is only going to earn Bailey more game time, and yesterday’s strike was certainly one of those.

It’s no surprise that Bailey’s Aston Villa teammates loved that goal, and they’ll be hoping he can do the same again against Leicester next weekend.
