Bailly would be perfect Alderweireld replacement for Tottenham
Tottenham are scouting for possible centre-back targets as the future of Toby Alderweireld remains unclear. The Mirror report an interesting line that the club are looking at Manchester United defender Eric Bailly as a potential signing.
The centre-back has recently signed up to a new agency and that could indicate that he is looking for a move away from Old Trafford. Mauricio Pochettino is a long-term admirer of the defender.
Bailly has had a mixed time at Manchester United, due to injuries and being out of favour. There is clearly talent there, but Jose Mourinho hasn’t been the manager to coax his best form out of him.
The Ivorian has the physicality to thrive in the Premier League, as he can compete aerially and has the recovery pace to make him a good option at centre-back.
During his time as Tottenham manager, Pochettino has excelled at helping players reach their potential. This is one of the main reasons that players are interested in a move to North London.
Considering Bailly’s potential and current position in the Manchester United squad, a move to Tottenham in 2019 could be the perfect next step for his career. If he is available, Spurs should look to capitalise.
